We made a new friend today. His name is Mr. Daniel, and he loves music! We reached out to Sunnyside in Kitchener, Canada to see if we could do a show for them. The administrators knew immediately that Mr. Daniel, one of their residents, would really enjoy the show! We logged onto the show and met Mr. Daniel, and his caretaker, and there was an instant connection. He was so happy and didn't stop smiling! We were excited to get started with the show.
We made our introductions, and then got into our set list. We sang the following songs for him...
1. It's A Small World
2. You Are My Sunshine
3. Do Re Mi
4. Yellow Submarine
5. Mamma Mia
6. Sweet Caroline
7. Que Sera Sera
8. Rumba
9. Shenandoah
10. Somewhere Over The Rainbow
11. La Bamba
Mr. Daniel sang along to almost each song that we sang for him, and after each song, he would tell us how much he enjoyed the song. He seemed very entertained and interested in our show. Our smiles got bigger after each song we sang because we loved seeing Mr. Daniel smiling and happy! By the end of the show, we learned that Mr. Daniel used to play the bagpipes and the accordion. We learned he was originally from Scotland. We asked him if he had any special song requests for the next show. He mentioned Danny Boy, Loch Lomond, and Daisy Bell. Seeing Mr. Daniel's excitement made us want to get started right away on learning these songs for him for the next show! We agreed that we'd perform for Mr. Daniel every week, and we already can't wait to see him again. Mr. Daniel was so grateful, and seeing him enjoying himself so much makes us want to perform for more and more seniors, and brighten up their days!
