We performed for the Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo Day Programs this Friday morning. We sang some favorites including ‘Sweet Caroline’ by Neil Diamond and ‘Do Re Mi’ by Julie Andrews from the Sound of Music. We tend to play the same group of songs every week because listening to or singing songs can provide emotional and behavioral benefits for people with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia. We started the MK Project because we wanted to help senior citizens with dementia and Alzheimer’s during quarantine since they weren’t able to have family or friends visit and because listening to familiar music can elicit pleasurable responses such as smiling, moving, and dancing. Our goal is to light up lives through music! This is the set list we used for today’s show:
Sweet Caroline
Daisy Bell
My Bonnie
Skye Boat
Que Sera Sera
High Hopes
Three Little Birds
Do Re Mi
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Edelweiss
La Bamba
